Mr. Adam Lambert

I’ve now had this blog for little over a week. It’s strange, blogging, but I kinda like it. One thing, or rather person, who has already had quite a lot of space here, is Adam Lambert. I thought I would give a little more explanation to why.

Almost two years ago, I was in some serious mess. My life was a turmoil and although I didn’t think far too much about it at the time, I was very down and had some really hard blows in my direction. Long story short, it wasn’t fun. At the time I was more of a rocker, didn’t admit to listening to anything outside my punk/rock scene, but was rather satisfied anyway. One day I heard this great tune on the radio. It wasn’t new, I’d heard it a million times before, but it was catchy at the time and I sang along to the radio. I decided that I wanted to hear it again, so I spent some time on youtube. I listened to it again and again, and it stuck. Guess three times which song it was.

Youtube has this great little feature that recommends other videos. I saw another one by this Lambert dude, called “For your entertainment”. I clicked it, and that was the seal of my faith. I was stuck. Staring at my screen, replaying, learning the lyrics, dancing, replaying some more. I started google:ing, reading more about this man. I listened to more of his music, found one song after one. Just a few weeks after first finding him, I was obsessed. I got myself a Twitter in September/October that year and after that it’s been a roller coaster ride, truly. I started out as a shy teenager with a love for a powerful singer. I’m now a confident, outgoing and happier man with an endless love and adoration for the most inspiring man in the world.

Adam has taught me so much about life. He’s taught me that the friends that are worth fighting for, are the ones that you should really take care of. The ones who really don’t do you any good are not worth spending time on. They’ll only take your time and energy, and it’s not worth it. He’s also taught me that it’s nothing bad to be friends with people that perhaps are a bit unexpected. Everything from someone that’s majorly different from yourself, to your ex. It’s your life, and you decide which people to keep. He’s taught me a lot about music, both purely educational things, but also how genres are boring, and that you should love whatever you want to love. There are no borders. He’s showed me some of the most amazing music, but also things I don’t like. That’s fine with me too. He’s taught me about theater, the music business, being famous, having fans and having a career. He’s shown sides of himself that few celebrities show, and I adore him for it. He’s taught me that the only way to make things happen, is to make them happen. Life’s all about taking opportunities, creating your own path and fight your own challenges. If you have a goal, you have to work for it.

Most importantly though, and the thing I adore the most about Adam, is the way the teaches people to love themselves. Myself included. Without him, I’m positive I wouldn’t feel this good about myself and who I am, how I look, etc. I know now, that I’m beautiful just the way I am. I don’t need to be perfect, I don’t need to care what others think about me. As long as I really am the person I am, I should be happy. Adam makes people feel loved. By him, by the other fans in the fandom, by the Glamily, and most importantly by yourself.

If I ever get to meet him, I just want to say one thing to him.

Thank you.

  1. Wow, bravo! You have expressed so well, what many of us have felt over the years of knowing and appreciating Adam. Best of luck on your life’s journey! And may you meet the man face to face and get one of those Lambert hugs!!

    • Thank you! He’s given me so much in life, and I hope that he understands that and that I get to thank him personally one day. And a hug would melt my heart forever, haha! ❤

  2. May I call you Alex? I just want you to know your story about how you found Adam and how he changed your life is very close to how most of his fans found him. However if he had never auditioned on AI we still wouldn’t know him. He’s an amazing human being and incredible artist. He’s got the whole package; handsome, charisma, intelligence, well spoken, caring, kind, loving and REAL. That is what sets him apart from all other singers/performers today. I haven’t been interested in any singer/performer since ELVIS so finding Adam gave me such inspiration and I found my love for music again after many years of setting it aside for other things. I appreciate your candor and wish you a happy life and hope you see Adam live because it’s almost an out of body experience. I haven’t been the same since.

    • Thank you for this lovely comment! I completely agree, he’s a pure original and that’s why I love him! Not only is he the most amazing singer, he’s sincere, cares about his friends, family and fans and aren’t afraid to express himself and his opinions. He’s really inspiring and I do really hope to get to see him live someday. He can captivate me from a shitty mobile stream so “IRL” I’m sure I would be a sobbing mess, but insanely happy<3

Wow, it’s amazing the impact he has on ppl. I discovered him again this year after I lost him due to other stuff. I listened to one song and was like OMG y did I ever stop listening to this man! Now I listen to him everyday and am do glad to have him in my life again! He’s amazing and inspirational, and I absolutely ADORE him! I’m lucky to have the glamily and adam in my life.

    • He truly brings people together! He’s such a talented musician, but that’s just one little side of him. I love how he shows so much of himself, both good and bad and everything in between. He’s a true inspiration and I adore him more than words could ever describe 🙂 ❤

This. Thank you for posting this. This sums up my Glambert journey but I couldn’t put it in words. You did an amazing job and I bet by blogging, you’re speaking for a lot of Glamberts as well. But I bet there’s way more you wanna say, but like all other Glamberts, if we wrote down everything he’s taught/inspired/why we’re Glamberts, it would fill up a hundred pages. To us, him being a talented artist is just another good thing about him. He’s way more than that. 🙂

    • Thank you for your lovely comment! I’m completely overwhelmed with all the love I’ve received for writing a little blog post. Adam is so much more than just what I can put into words, but it’s a processing thing for me ❤

  5. Hi Alex, good to see your blog. Keep up the good work, and have fun!

Hi Alex, what a wonderful entry – it is inspiring to see the impact this amazing man made and is continuing to make on so many of us, regardless of age, gender, race, nationality… Thank you for sharing your journey to personal empowerment! Hope you’ll meet Adam in person soon 🙂

    • If I ever get to see him in person I’ll be over the moon 🙂 He’s a truly amazing and inspirational man, and I owe him my life. Thank you for your sweet comment! ❤

  8. Thank You! You beautifully expressed how inspirational Adam is! Adam is more than super talented, he reaches our heart and soul with his fierceness and realness. He is imperfect Perfection! Perfection is boring and that is definitely is not Adam. He is so full of life and it is contagious. He makes you realize what is important in life! Can’t wait for his new music!

    • He connects to people on such a raw plan, he’s a true inspiration! I totally agree with the imperfect perfection part, he’s perfect because he’s so imperfect and isn’t afraid to show it. It’s amazing and I can’t do anything else than feel all warm inside :’) And I can’t WAIT until we get new material! Rock star!!

Thank you, Alex. We have something in common; even though I’ve been a fan of Adam’s since his first appearance on AI, I too was in a really dark place until that first night when I watched his audition. After that I spent hours on YouTube watching old Zodiac Show and Upright Cabaret videos. I was glued to every minute of American Idol. I suddenly had joy, music and art back in my life that hadn’t been there in years. I feel pretty certain that Adam’s appearance in my life saved it. The last 4 years have been quite a ride and I’ve learned as much about myself as I’ve learned about Adam. He’s opened my heart and mind, inspired me artistically and also helped me open up and allow good things into my life. Thank you sharing your experience. 🙂

    • Thank you for sharing yours! I think it’s amazing how Adam just manages to bring joy, happiness and love into the lives of everyone who crosses his way. It’s indeed a ride, and although I wish he would actually have the global support he deserves, I’m so proud to be his fan and to be inspired by him. He’s a great source of happiness, love, inspiration and art. So I can really relate to what you’re saying! Thank you for your wonderful comment 🙂 ❤

I truly feel that you will meet Adam..I have only seen him once in concert..and it was the best night of my life..I dragged my two sons with me, even tho they are into metal, and they both said that they would go see him again…no one alive can compare to him..I cannot explain my obsession..but I am loving it…I love when I read others comments about this amazing man and his talent..thank you for sharing..

    • I really hope so 🙂 Thank you for sharing this too, it’s really amazing! Adam totally crushed all my genre ideas, lol! As mentioned, I was a rather hardcore punkrocker. I still am, but Adam is my love 😀

I absolutely commend you for blogging about how u discovered Adam. I was also at a low point in life when I first saw him on January 20, 2009. I buried my husband that day. Tony was 37 when he passed away from lymphoma. I was devastated, he was/is the only man I’ve ever really loved or been in love with and losing him at such a young age truly sucked. Anyway, Adam’s audition aired that night and I have been a HUGE fan ever since. Not a day goes by that I don’t spend at least an hour with Adam Lambert. He truly saved me from drowning in depression in 2009 and I will be his fan forever. I also would love to see him in concert and if I ever actually met him I would probably be a blithering idiot, lol! Thank-you for sharing your story, it really touched my heart. Good luck with everything and I hope you get to meet bb someday. sincerely, Amy aka ateal69

    • That is such a sad but beautiful story. Sounds a lot like destiny to me that Adam came into your life on the same day. I’m so happy that he helped you through such a hard time. I really hope you get to meet him one day, I think he would be deeply touched by such a heartfelt story. Thanks for sharing your story ❤

You have expressed so eloquently what most of us Glamberts have been feeling for four years since IDOL and don’t understand. I’m a professional (don’t follow singers usually), love great singers, and most of my family and friends think I’m nuts for believing in this guy. The Glamberts find themselves passionately defending Adam for everything he is criticized for and we don’t quit. We may be small in number, but we are fierce. I think Adam should be one of the biggest stars in the world, but then I think, this world can be so shallow and hateful, unaccepting, it makes sense they don’t get him. They’d prefer the mediocre, auto-tuned, lip-syncing singers we hear on radio. I am proud of who he is. I read all the time how polite, unselfish and professional he is at venues from his interactions with the top person down to the person who brings him a water bottle. He seems to be really grounded and we know he can “sang.” I am hoping for great things. I want a Queen US and Europe tour, a new album, SNL appearance, national anthem at a super bowl or equivalent, and radio and TV exposure. He has taught me to dream!

    • This is so true! Adam is such an extremely talented man, in all ways possible. I love how he’s so sincere and kind to everyone he meets. Very classy and professional, and at the same time true to himself and what he believes in. I saw a comment fleeting around today, after RCA tweeted about Adam and iheart, that “only Adam breaks up with his label and still stays friends with them”, haha! I think it’s very true, Adam is a class act like no other. I can’t wait for what he’ll do next, I want him to be our rock star 😀 Thanks for your comment ❤

  14. Alexander, what was the tweet from RCA??? Must have missed it, can’t find now….Thanx

Thank you so much for your post. I am a proud Glambert, although the word didn’t exist when I first saw Adam in his audition on American Idol. I was amazed by his talent, and I knew he was SPECIAL !!! I have followed his career, and each day I come to realize more and more just how lucky we are to be on the same planet with him. You, in your blog, say what so many of us think, but cannot express. Thank you for putting our thoughts into words. I admire what you are doing, and wish you the best in all your endeavors !

    • He really is special 🙂 ❤ Thank you so much for your lovely comment. I'm usually really bad with words so it really makes me happy that you feel like I've put into words what you feel ❤ It's a huge compliment in my world!
